Make a lasting impact while seeing turtles lay their eggs and watching the hatchlings head for the sea.
This program works in collaboration with a local Greek organization that has been working on turtle conservation in Greece since 1983. Due to increased tourism and plastic pollution, there is a greater need for conservation of turtles and their nesting sites along the beautiful beaches.
Participants work alongside the local organization to protect the sea turtles and their breeding sites along the coast of Greece. The assistance of volunteers means we are able to monitor a larger stretch of beach meaning we are able to reach a greater number of turtles and nesting sites.
This program has the following long term objectives:

Participants are expected to remain flexible as project work changes based on weather as well as needs of our project partners.
Estimated Schedule:
6-10am: Early morning survey
12pm: Lunch
1pm - 4pm: Afternoon survey
6pm: Dinner
9pm: Bed Time/Night survey
Patrolling the beach to locate new tracks and nests

Installing protective nest grids
We encourage participants to remain flexible, conditions in field as well as program activities depend on weather conditions as well as needs of our partners in the field.
Training for this program is offered online pre-program, keep an eye out for an eye out for your personal access to our online learning platform where you can engage with other participants and learn more about the program before arriving.
Evenings are free for participants to relax, you also have weekends available to do some facilitated sightseeing.
Accommodation is in shared tents (single sex) with shared (single sex) bathroom facilities within the camp site. There is running cold water available for drinking. Flush toilet facilities (shared, single sex) and hot showers (the hot water is limited as it is solar powered) are available at the campsite.
