Earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification
Puerto Morelos is a port city on the Mexican Coast with a unique diversity of ecosystems. The reef of Puerto Morelos is part of the Mesoamerican Reef System which is recorded to be the second largest barrier reef in the world.
Fishing is the primary economic activity which is commonly unsustainable and leads to the destruction of the reef and as a result a loss of fishing resources.
This program, along with its participants assist our local partners in Puerto Morelos with collecting data to aid in decision making in coastal zone management. This program contributes by providing participants to conduct the research, provides logistical resources and also with finances.
The long term objectives of tis volunteer program is to:
Earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification
Preserve the unique ecosystem of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef
Contribute to UN SDG #14, Life Below WaterContribute to UN SDG #14, Life Below Water

You will have weekends off but you won't have much free time during the week as you will be busy with training or in the water. You will have breaks for meals and then a bit of free time in the evenings to relax or enjoy social activities with the other participants.
Over weekends, you can choose to spend your time relaxing on base or exploring. While on base, you can take advantage of the common areas for socializing, choose from one of the many science or fiction books to read in one of the hammocks, play a game, watch a movie, relax on the beach or play some beach volleyball.
We also now include cultural/local experiences. These experiences will take place once every 4 weeks.
These activities may include:
You will live in shared dorm-style accommodation, with four beds per room, giving you the perfect opportunity to connect. The accommodation features shared facilities such as a communal kitchen, work area, and living space. There is bottled water available for cooking and drinking. We aim to leave as small a footprint as possible on the environment, which means we keep facilities basic. The team loves to play volleyball on the beach. If you ever feel the need for a change of scenery, you can quickly get to the other side of town on foot.
Your team shares base duties, including cooking, cleaning, gear and equipment maintenance, and other chores. Curfew is at 11 pm every day.
