Work with one of the most endangered species in the Mediterranean and discover the beauty of Greece's Mediterranean coast.
This project offers you the opportunity to work with an international conservation team and make a real contribution to one of the most important breeding areas of the loggerhead sea turtle. Volunteers help with research, conduct surveys, protect the nests and turtles from predators, and educate local people about conservation issues.
Located in the beautiful bay of Kyparissia in the western Peloponnese, you will work to conserve and protect one of the most important loggerhead sea turtle nesting areas in Greece. The organization is based in Giannitsochori, one of the most important breeding areas for this species of turtle in Greece. Here you have the unique opportunity to make a sustainable contribution to the conservation of this endangered species. The project is designed to bring long-term benefits to the local environment and community.
You will be involved in monitoring and recording turtle nesting activity on a daily basis. Once a nest is found, you take on the task of protecting it from predators and flooding. In addition, you will educate tourists and the local community about the conservation of this turtle species.
The organization works with local partners, from whom you will receive the necessary training to ensure that the project goals can be achieved. You also have the opportunity to discover the fascinating Greek culture and the sights of the area in your free time.
