Earn PADI professional diving certifications
Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System is the second largest Barrier reef in the world and is a recognized world heritage site. The reef faces many challenges in conservation such as rising water temperatures caused by climate change, as a result the coral becomes damaged (coral bleaching).
One of the other main challenges is plastic pollution of the barrier reefs affecting the overall health of the ecosystem.
Belize is the leader in effective conservation practices and has already put several policies in place which includes banning bottom trawling moving drilling and oil prospecting offshore.
As a participant you play a vital role in support the country's initiatives by conducting scientific surveys to collect data which is passed on to local authorities and used to make further important decisions when it comes to the conservation of the local area and the Barrier Reef.

Ambergris Caye offers many activities. Walk the small streets of the town while trying snacks, foods and talking to the locals.
You can also visit the local market on the weekend or take a trip to the 'secret beach' where you can sit on tables in the warm, clear water and enjoy food and drinks while fish swim around your table.
Boat rides are readily available for day trips to the near by islands.
We also now include cultural/local experiences. These experiences will take place once every 4 weeks.
These activities may include:
Accommodation is a shared mixed dorm room with shared bathroom facilities.
There is purified water available for cooking and drinking (it is not recommended to drink the tap water on the Belizean islands). Ambient temperature water for showering and flush toilet facilities.
You will share base duties. This may include cooking, cleaning, and gear and equipment maintenance, and other chores.
You should expect to live in shared accommodation with common spaces and cooking facilities. The accommodation is near to the beach and and close to the town which has restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and many smaller shops.
